Does anyone else see any problems with this? I mean, he is still in his first week of presidency, and already he is being slated as a form of money?! He messed up the traditional inagural oath already, he might turn up to be just another mediocre president. Anyway, the racial boundry between black and white has officially been broken by Obama, so racism is the most valid reason to honor him in this way; but to publicize his presidency in such a way makes me feel as if hardcore morals and traditions in this country are soon to be broken as well on a federal level (drug laws, sex laws, etc.). Not trying to provoke a fight here, but I'm still skeptical of Obama's presidency.
What do you think?
...this is not a political forum. Your comment about Obama "messing up" the Oath really lets your idiocy and bigotry shine brightly. Doesn't Rush Limbaugh have a public forum/blog??? I guarantee you'd have much more fun there. So go there and enjoy yourself. I'm going surfing...dropping tide with new swell on the bouys since yesterday PM.....
A little optimism makes life oh so much sweeter...

1: This is an off topic part of the forums.
2: I put his oath screw up in the context of the worst mistake he's made so far. I think his presidency should be at least allowed to run its course before giving him such a honor. What if he turns psycho and starts shooting people one day or something of the likes which gets him impeached? Wouldn't you feel stupid carrying around some US currency with his face on it? That's my point.

Umm... not to deflate your balloon, but Chief Justice John Roberts (that'd be the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court, appointed by GW Bush), screwed it up. President Obama is supposed to repeat what he said, but the Constitution specifically states (in Article Two) the wording of the Presidential oath of office. It's one of the few things explicitly laid out in the Constitution. At the Inauguration, Justice Roberts inadvertantly stated it wrong when he was going from memory, and President Obama was probably confused if he should repeat Roberts or say the right thing. Justice Roberts tried to save it from there, and then it got uglier.
Please read the Constitution. Then please listen to the Oath being stated. I'm sure it's out there on YouTube already.
Tell you what... I already did the research for you! Here's the oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Now, read along as YouTube plays it out, and please note how President Obama defers to Justice Roberts to say it again and get it right...

As for the currency thing, that's just laughable (in other words, I agree with you). Only dead people are allowed on currency. To even consider it right now IS stupid, but I've heard no such thing. Unless you know something in the works, this is a young guy who shouldn't be in that position for a while to come.
Not a raving liberal or a raving conservative, here. Just a middle of the road, socially liberal but fiscally conservative, politics watcher.
Best,

Agreed with ShShSh. It wasn't Obama's fault. He was actually waiting for the Chief to correct himself, but never did.
As a reminder guys, I know Political Discussion's can become heated very quickly. Let's remember that personal attacks on another member when it comes to political discussions will not be tolerated. We all have our different views in politics, and we should be able to express them in a respectable way.
As you were...:)

Wow, I heard wrong then. Looks like everything's going smoothly in his presidency and I apologize for that. As for the currency, T.V. commercials state that the U.S. mint now has created an Obama quarter, dollar, and two dollar bill as legal tender. The bills are standard 1 & 2 dollar bills with Obama sort of to the sides of Washington and Jefferson in gold ink or something, but the quarter shows him taking over the Washington half entirely. I'm too lazy to post pics.

Yep, I agree with you. I hadn't heard of these coins, but that's just silly. They cannot be legal tender if minted. I'm sure they're just "collector's items," worth less than the amount stated on the coins.
As stated before, it went from an understood rule in the U.S. to an actual law when Congress enacted legislation specifically stating that no living person could appear on a US coin. The concern was how it appeared almost like a Monarchy or Oligarchy having a living person on currency.
With that said, I bet a bunch of people jump on this "opportunity to get a piece of history."

I saw a commercial for the coins but they were not legal tender. They were the cheesiest coins with a sticker pasted on the front. Not made by the US mint though. Yeah the oath was roberts problem, obama knew it well enough to see it was said incorrectly.

I saw the coin tv ads also. It's just a collectors item, these are not in circulation.
Just some company trying to make money...

I know the half dollar sticker coin you speak of, but this isnt it. Its an all silver quarter, and paper & gold dollar/ 2 dollar bill.
