Had a fun session at sands yesterdy. Tide was 4' and dropping. Water was glassy clean because the wind had been lightly out of the south in the channel all day. Yesterday morning a small front popped up on the weather charts off of california that never made it down to us hence the south wind and heavy marine layer. The surf was waist to chest high with the occasional shoulder high set. Only 5-10 people out, not looking forward to all the kooks getting back from winter vacation.

I'm actually up in Santa Cruz. A strong (very North) swell was forecast before my visit, and is supposed to be building throughout the day. I had planned on driving up to Half Moon Bay to shoot Mav's, but between the fog and the downgraded swell, I think I'll stay here in town and head on over to Steamer's and maybe Pleasure Pt.

Friday the water was crystal clear at CP. While riding in to shore, I could count the rocks on the bottom. As the tide dropped, I moved down a bit and had some beautiful rides. I don't know why I don't just start there, but that's where I always wind up and have the most fun. There were more than enough waves for the mellow longboarding crowd to choose from.

Yes, yesterday was pristine. Fun waves too. I liked the cloudy greyness.

I took this yesterday. Considering that it was so gray, the hues are pretty cool I think...
