GoPro Hero HD mounted on helmet - glad the waves were small - 3-6'. Funny how they look much smaller in the video. Nose mounted camera makes them look much bigger. Everything worked great. Will take some getting used to the helmet. When diving under waves or getting thrashed in the whitewater the increased drag pulls my head around. I let the editing program add the music - not my choice.
Shot in 960P 1280 x 960 which gives the tallest HD video from the GoPro and Maximum Overall View - 4:3
Based on my little experience with a 5 oz camera and lightweight Gath helmet I've got to say that George Greenough was risking his life when he rode his Velo with 20-30 lbs. of camera gear on his back. Big Respect!

That's gotta look pretty cool on a real swell. Is it an illusion or was it 2' in that?

Nice perspective, but I kept waiting for the wall to build and the lip throw out for the tear drop, pipe cleaner shot.

Yes it was both. Certainly makes them look smaller. I'll do the nose mount and 2 footers will look overhead.

Me too but not that day, they will come.
I actually got a bit freaked out by the extra time it took me to get to the surface after diving under waves. Also I never realized how important a sensory organ my naked head was when underwater with eyes closed. The helmet really limits your awareness of everything underwater.
Good to meet you Jon - I sent you a PM.
Now I'm looking for a $500 HD camcorder to shoot from the beach. Any ideas/recommendations?

Interesting. I notice the same myself anytime I wear anything on my head in the water...
