warning though....tons of people out and one or two nasty ones out there:mad:
a zillion photogs were out so hopefully some nice shots will show up on this site.
Yeppers, the conditions at Rincon were super-clean, but the weekend crowd was overwhelming...
Here's a pic of my friend Daniel from Brazil. I'm sorta sponsoring him...

Nice shot!
I wish someone would get a photo of me doing something spectacular like that. Oh, wait, maybe it's because I don't do anything spectacular!!!!!!

Surprisingly good. Surfed from about 11 to just now. It kept looking like it was going to die and then a head high set would come through. The best sets today were just as good as yesterday. When I first got there the crowd wasn't too bad. Everybody probably thought it would be knee high. About 1 and on it got zooed out but the sets were still really good. Brownie said he and the tow crew surfed the Shark Park yesterday. I guess there were some good waves had as it was so glassy.

Hopefully there'll be some leftovers tomorrow.
Yeah, the Shark Park trip. Akiskalian said that he drove all the way there across the channel on his Jet Ski, surfed for hours, and then...drove the Jet Ski for 2.5 more hours back across the channel to get home.

Campus was a blast today. I'm bummed that I'm riding my slow and bulky 6'6, because it was pristine today. I got there at around 11:30~, stayed till 4. Waves were AWESOME till about 12:30 or 1. As the tide dropped the waves got smaller + not as consistent + not as long faces + closeouts etc etc etc.
For the duration I was there there were a few sets or lone waves that were HUGE breaking WAY outside. Think these sets came in maybe 4~ times.
Also was a guy ripping it up out there.

I gave Eric shit all his life but he gets the last laugh. He was in the Pit today (with his 9' something red gun!) and a couple guys were talking about what he did yesterday. I am a lifelong SB Channel boater and I have a hard time justifying the trip to Rosa and back in one day, much less than next one over. I honestly cannot even imagine what Eric did. I doubt I could have done that when I was 20 and Eric is not that much younger than me now.

Have you seen the vids of Eric eating $hit? Shark Park, Teahupoo??
47 years old, married, 2 kids.

Like I said he gets the last laugh and today in the Pit he was sort of beaming, He knows he did something none of the rest could. I used to have a SOA Skipjack 28 and I still got beat to shit out to Rosa and back in one day. Can you imagine a Ski to the next one, out there and back. That is Iron Man shit.

PS your good buddy Ted Munoz took off on, ran over and broke the ankle of the guy who lives in the second house up on the Cove. He is a gruff old fisherman so all the Pit crew like him. Some of Ted's "best buds" were calling ban him from the beach. I think the guy got taken to the hospital. Ted for once didn't know what to do with himself. Hopefully he disappears for the rest of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wonder if he's the same f***head who literally shoved me off a wave on Sunday.
Obviously, I never saw the guy coming, but he could have yelled or whistled and I could have kicked out. But instead, he choses to shove me from behind.
Yes, he had the right of way, but that's just dangerous. I'm sure we're not all perfect, and have found ourselves in the same situation. This guy had dark hair and a beard. Scum bag.

Different scum bag. I know who you are talking about. Ted is the blond Mexican who can't surf.

Inspired you to travel? Why, to get away from the local scum bags? Not that you need an excuse to travel, but, don't other parts of the world have their own local scum bags that you'd have to deal with?

Well, you should leave a stack of your business cards at Rincon!! You'd get lots of new clients!!

Why? to get away from the crowds. Crowds always equal hassles/fights.
If you travel, you can find places where no one surfs. I went to this place in Fiji called Frigate Pass. 6 straight days of perfect reefbreak. all to myself. Not one other person. I think there's a surf camp there now. That's okay, there's always other spots to find.

seems like we have an emergency room full of "Rincon Remorse"...many of us who have intimate relations with the Queen know the symptoms, pain in the neck, jaw tightening and...oh to slot one from indicator, bowled at the creek, flat out speed to first point and looking' for the sandbar ahead...

Thanks for that link Jon. Brownie said he really idn't get any good ones but I guess that left was his best. He said Cappy got the glory hole on that one. The new lingo I heard between Eric and Brownie was "that one was tall!" Still can't believe Eric Jetskied out their. Interesting to see what the weekend brings. Surf and weather hopefully.

Hopefully the Classic won't get cancelled; they'll be making a decision tomorrow.
Further down the road, forecasters are hinting that if present models hold up, Monday could see triple overhead faces + at Rincon...

I shot for Huglin at Shark Park those first two trips, that place is pretty crazy, looked a lot cleaner that day than even the second trip, the first trip was just all blown out and choppy. That place is really tumultuous and full of life. Hopefully it will happen again, soon. Anthony

That must have been insane. Wish I could have been there...
Can't imagine the terror that Eric A. went through...

Yeah it is really nice out there, when you can roll the dice right, about 10 days out of the year when it's not blowing 30+!! Its truly one of the windiest places on the west coast.
