Thank you Jon for some of the post deleting you have done...Lets not have all our favorites overrun like Rincon and Campus Point. Even an audience this small can have a big impact.

I agree, let's try to keep it mellow, but realize too that its ok to I.D. a place so that the locals will know what break you are referring to. My server logs all of the ip's that visit this site, and the overwhelming majority are local SB Internet Service Provider addresses, but still we need to be mindful of this...

Are you working this weekend BigRed?

That's an attitude consistent with the culture of surfing--but not with the culture of the web. This is the information superhighway. We've got buoy reports and satellite imaging predicting swell arrival/size with scientific precision. We've the cult of celebrity in full bloom that has turned stunt artists into surf gods who shill for anyone willing to write a check. There's not a lot of consistency here. Either talk about surfing and promote it or don't. You can't walk forward and backwards at the same time.

Mr.Shamgod called bullshit on me on his Laird thread but I call all this local SB localism BS at this point in history. I went through that 40 years ago, it didn't work. I like the interent superhighway and I thank Jon for connecting us. Rincon was crowded when I started in the 60's and so was the Ranch. It was just a matter if you were on it or not! Tomorrow it is a matter of luck, if U R lucky U may get a wave of your life. If not it will be sunny and beautiful and the surf will be veryyyyyyyyy good!!!!!

I don't know too many secret spots. I figure mentioning CP is a given at this point so it's okay to tell when I've had a good session there. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Tomorrow I'm going out with the attitude that I usually have: "the wave of the day may not be your own". I first felt that one autumn day when I saw a new friend catch a stand up barrel ride, while the rest of us were lucky to ride the shoulder in. Hopefully I'll get the same feeling this weekend.

The web absolutely has a culture and tradition. It's all about open source. The free exchange of information, technology, software, anything really. It's about empowering the individual through information and knowledge. Software and music piracy aren't as simple as the corporations would have us believe. It's about keeping the web as a frontier, keeping it clean of corporate profit mongerers. As surfers, We brought our culture to the web and we should consider some of the ground rules because overall the web and the surf culture are more alike than different. To paraphrase Keith Ledger in LORDS OF DOGTOWN, "We're pirates."

IMHOP, if you come to a site like this, come ready to give and take information, that's what the web has always been about. Information. If you want to keep secrets, join the CIA.

live long enough and you____(fill in the gap)...so the name game has finally reared it's pimple head...yeah, we've surfed it all and then some, it's our backyard from rincon, the western gate, the shipping lanes and beyond and who wouldn't like to catch the wave of their day (i'm a junkie, too). yet we're conflicted because we don't necessarily want to start another "jungle drum"...there is something to say about personal discovery whether it's ocean conditions or a surf spot and if someone wants to share then...but don't drop the censorship bomb or i'm out here. and, didn't i read on the rincon blog about jon's bad experience with___who? forget about it! i say talk story and let your conscience be your guide...
