Same here. Went out early am and had a great time. After a while of the crowd (thankfully many familiar faces), found my own peak farther down and had so much fun.
What were you riding?
I sat on the beach and watched everyone else score...
:(
Oh well...
This was about the biggest wave I saw all day.

Damn, did you go to Jalama or something?? Devereux & Sands were only half that size this morning.

Was that big one in the morning or did you come back? I didn't think it was that clean in the morning. Really great beautiful shot. Did that guy make it? It looks like he is kinda gagging right there in a pretty critical section. What a day. Long waits between sets but boy were those waits worthwhile when you picked off a set wave. My last wave about 4:40 was my biggest wave of the day and it looks like it reallllllly died this morning. Oh well. Fun while it lasted.

i was on a purple stub with a white bottom, but I was out at around 3:30 till dark so I think we missed!

I waiting until after 8:00am to head down there (tide drop) which was a mistake. The morning was much cleaner and consistent, and seemingly sizier...
You nailed it on that shot; the guy got one helluva long ride, but basically went straight the whole time through some pretty critical sections until it all imploded on him and he had to straighten out...

Carpinteria local gal Bo Stanley was practicing for the Rincon Classic, got some nice ones too.

well I am glad i scored the Con that morning.
1st one in the water and still dark out. water was glowing and the waves were pumping even with a high tide.
surfed from 530 till 7 and got about 10 set waves then the crowd came and I moved on.
Cst looked unreal in the afternoon. the cove was the best I have seen in a while.
some solid 8-10 surf.

sandspit was CRAZY at the peak low tide. the long period was pumping in some gnarly double-ups and it would have been a great opertunity to catch a few photos of the 5 eyed barrels breaking out at 4th flagpole. ive never seen it like that there, it wasnt even that surfable until the tide got higher around 2oclock, but it was insane to just sit and watch the monsters breaking up the way a few yards. when the tide picked up it actually got decent, with a few nipple-high + sets rolling thru, but it was fairly inconsistent as the day got later... still a great day to be in the water! :D

I was filming Rincon at about 730 AM on saturday. All things considered, the crowd wasn't too bad and alot of the guys catching waves weren't great surfers--so you could really get waves out there. a couple of guys were picking off waves on the inside section.
Seemed like there were enough waves to go around.

I ended up sitting on the inside getting some great HH left overs.
just didn't have the patience to sit/wait/fight all while marinating for the set waves.
who was shooting at the crack cause he must have shot some pics of myself amongst the others. not that I'm any good but this guy was shooting every ride/wave.

I expect you know she is Scott Stanley's daughter, Esau's owner and they are opening their new restaurant on Chapala soon. That and any other good shots of her would probably be bought.

Do you mean the older guy shooting with two tripods and later set up an umbrella? That guy sells his footage I think. He was giving out phone numbers.

Maybe me? I got there at 6 AM to shoot my dawn stills Saturday morning. Due to the slow shutter speed, I have to shoot a lot to hopefully get one good shot so I shoot anyone and everyone who surfs in that light.
This was my winner of the morning.

I may have a shot of you if you describe your board, but there is a good possibility that it isn't very sharp.
I came back in the afternoon and saw this guy with a shaved head on a short board with a Quiksilver logo surfing. He seemed to know what he was doing. ;)

I was in the water with that shaved head guy. I cut him off about five times. I think he's some kook from Northridge. I vandalized his car on the way home, and stole his car stereo.

Hey Ryan, I just met one of your customers at Rincon, riding a slick quad fish with carbon fiber rails...

Surfed a gaviota point break Saturday morning on the dropping tide, 6-8 faces and kind of inconnsistent but good barells and only a couple people out. Hiked up to razors for an evening session on the higher tide, 8-10 faces and much more consistent. Saw a couple guys pull through some big sections.
Hit C-street Sat morning and WOW! Lucked out and got a great parking spot right off the bat!!!!!!!!!!!!!Got caught inside on the paddle out, should have check the lineup a bit longer. Waited for the clean up sets that swung wide and got one really good one all the way into the cove. Paddled up for a little bit and watched the kids rip during the NSSA's, no shortage of young local talent! Sunday was good in the morning but not as big or consistant, but still really good and crowded, almost saw a fistfight, sad some people are still that way in the lineup. But still a great weekend!
