I was at Rincon, double overhead, maybe triple. 4 guys in the water. Fairly clean. Slopey takes offs. Lulls between sets. No one there. I don't get it. Can someone explain? This is a sin. It was like that all afternoon. The few guys in the water weren't taking off much.

I've got video to prove all of the above.

It woulda been hard getting out, but not impossible. There were lulls. I'm going to kill myself now.

Lot of guys on the backside.

When I was there, no one was on the other side.

I'm guessing people assumed it'd be too stormy and blown out? The few guys that were there made it outside, including one guy that must have been 150 years old. So it couldn't be that people couldn't get out. No one even showed up to TRY and get it.

Was today a time warp back to 1908?

Just can't understand why the most famous wave on the coast on an epic day went essentially unridden.

I was there too. The paddle out was pretty nasty when I was talking to one of the surfers and to keep position took a lot of energy. That being said.....I was a bit amazed myself.

haha yeah the guys were talking about the nasty paddle out too, lots of water moving, we watched a guy paddling for almost a hour hour to get out of the white water. Simba nice shot, almost looks like Dane, looks like his board.

The steel pins in my neck aren't conducive to surfing on a regular basis. There's no doubt you needed to be in good paddling shape to get outside--but it was doable. There *were* people in the line up after all. So I was there with the vid camera. Got a lot of shots of empty waves...will try to link the footage here.

After Rincon, I went to Miramar? (that beach at the end of San Ysidro Rd), about half the size of Rincon. But same deal, only about 5 guys in the water....

yeah sham the combo of the human and big surf is perplexing...add dashes of butterflies and the line up becomes your own private inquisition...
