I rode a wave something like this a long time ago at Black's in La Jolla, hit a bunch of backwash and catapulted me, tore both knee cartidges. I couldn't stand and had crawl and writhe to get myself out of the shorebreak and onto the beach.

Are you sure that's not Cory Lopez? Cory was making it look so playful and caught the biggest wave I've ever seen ridden at sandbar. It wasn't hollow at all, except for a few.

Nice pics for sure! Yeah, guy in the blue wetty is Cory Lopez, heard he's living in Orange County these days but from the amount I've seen him in the water around here I would have thought he relocated up here. Definitely fun watching him surf though, the guys kills.

i cant say that ive seen him before... but a lot of people come out for swell like this. he looks pretty decked out with the hat and gloves! thats taken on sunday right? it sure changed with the tide. at high tide around noon it was huuuuugggeee and it was gloomy with disgusting-er looking water

to say the guy with the gun was pulling off some monster snaps is an understatement. while i was stuck in the cabrillo river express i looked up for just long enough to see him pull off some cazy snap in the pocket of a macker.
