Surf cam looks decent, Poles is probably getting some action. May be getting better throughout the day.

I drove by to check it out, Poles was knee high :\.

I'm thinking the surf would have been good today if it wasn't for the wind...

Woke up at seven to check it out, and seemed okay but it was very low tide so knew that I'd have to wait it out a bit. Hop back into bed and it's totally blown out.

This morning negative low tide garbage is killing me. The wind comes in with the tide it seems. . .

I was driving back from school today and my truck was really tipsy on the highway with all the wind. I started day dreaming about how some horrible thing happened and the entire Earth seemed to have been struck by a never-ending wind storm and how the temperature dropped everywhere and how the sport of surfing ceased to exist :(. Then I remembered the laws of nature and decided I'd be so stoked when we get some clean lines at poles :).

This your first year in Santa Barbara?? ;)

Sadly, the season is dead guys,,,(and gals).. I know I know..

Time to start driving to surf,,, ventura south or jalama north. Unless u have a boat

Pray for a couple of decent NW's to swing through over the next month or so and maybe get a session here or there in.

No, not my first year here, just forever the optimist is all :p.
I just like to wake up early and search for a nice sheltered spot before the afternoon winds whip up.
If only I did have a boat!

I remember last summer as being pretty decent and us getting some really NICE days :) Although there was one or two big lulls (think like 3-4 weeks ~).

Hawaii is the only place you can surf year round? I'm sure there's other places. Australia / South Africa?

Ahhhh

gave up hating the wind some years ago ... realized that the windswell is the larger increment during these small days. So sleep in, bring on that wind, increase those ripples, up the board size, and have at it.

guess I'm an optimist too looking for that silver ...

hmmm, thinking about kite-boarding (just luv the thought of strapping on that gear)

Kurt, just booked for june. Tired of the 52 degree water. Love esterillos, is tony still at the lowtide lounge? just hope the damn macaws don't drop all that stuff on my car again. Bringing the kid this time - that's him below/attached. bz

Tony is no longer at the Lowtide Lounge. He is still around but is thinking about heading further south (by a few countries) to see what else is up.

You can count on the macaws making a mess. And I bet your son will love this area. I'll take you to the secret spot if you end up in Esterillos Oeste.

Pura Vida,
