Longboarders, go to Devro

Dear Locals,

For all of you SB locs, I give you my sympathy. This swell was so hyped that EVERYONE and their mother came to SB for this swell. SB was all time! But so were the crowds... This swell was big enough to attract the pros but still small enough to keep the kooks in the water. Way too many people! Hope everyone had a little better luck than my crew and I had.

Sadly, I don't think SB was isolated with these problems. Reports from both up North and down South echoed what we saw here, but it was nice to see SL8R tearing up the local spots.

I snapped this shot of Kelly right after the sickest/longest Sandspit barrel in history.

Yeah I saw the crouds but you gotta deal with that these daze. I didnt really have much trouble but I also didnt even try Rincon. I have noticed an across the board drop in comroderie between surfers and that needs to change. The problem is anyone can paddle out, its what you do when you get out there that makes you a surfer. We need more pride and less image.

P.S. To the photographer in the dress on the peir. Thanx for the shots.

Oh, I had that face on a few times in the past few days (great picture Jon)! It didn't take a sick barrel to make me that happy, though. Just making the drop and not eating it was enough for me!

Yeah, there was some uncharacteristic aggressiveness at spots that are normally more mellow, but I was lucky enough to get some amazing rides. My wave count was definitely lower today and Tuesday (No way did I go out yesterday), but I had fun watching those who knew what they were doing and I felt like I was part of something big.

Glad you like it! I can't believe how many images I shot in two days (over 1,500). Lots of editing to do...

I didn't get to surf because I had a cortisone shot in my back on monday.

Good thing there's another swell coming.

I have to make up for lost opportunities!

Hope your back is better soon. More fun on the way with hopefully less people in the water.
I've been watching the other site for pictures. It's fun to see the different spots. Keep 'em coming!

I found this video of his barrel (among others) on surfline. You were right. That had to be at least 10 seconds! Holy smokes!

Great find!

I've been thinking about this for the past few days.

Santa Barbara really does have the most insane man-made break on the planet, donchya think?
