The Naples Coalition and Aquasports are combining forces to offer a once-in-a-lifetime guided paddle along the wild Gaviota Coast from Haskell’s Beach to Naples and back. The tour will skirt the Naples Reef in the newly designated Marine Protected Area and promises a variety of wildlife sightings. The event will be guided by professionals at Aquasports and will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 10am to 3pm.

The public is encouraged to take advantage of this rare opportunity to paddle with others in a guided group setting along the untamed scenic Gaviota Coast. Tour guides will be Greg Helms, president of Naples Coalition and Eric Little, adventurer and owner of Aquasports in Goleta.

You will:

* Learn about the ecology and history of this area

* Glide over the Naples Reef and the marine treasures it holds

* Have lunch with Brown Pelicans, White-tailed Kites and other feathered and unfeathered friends

* Feel the solitude of our undeveloped coastline

This is a fundraiser for Naples Coalition with kayaks and equipment donated by Aquasports. The fee for those renting kayaks is $100 per person. Your kayak will be delivered to the shore and you will launch and paddle with the assistance of professional guides. A Save Naples T-shirt is included with this package. Others are invited to participate with their own kayak or SUP with a suggested donation of $20 or more ($40 includes a T-shirt). Naples Coalition has a letter of sponsorship you can use to collect your fee with or to acquire donations. 100% of proceeds will go to Naples Coalition to protect the Gaviota Coast from development.

Call or email to register while space is available, whether or not you have your own equipment.

Basic swimming skills are required. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
