Brent Lieberman’s “La Niña Lines”
South Swells in December? Huge swells in the North Pacific and Bay of Alaska that don’t generate little more that a one day head-high swell. Little rain, super cold weather. Warm where it was cold, cold where it was warm. Global warming, new Ice Age? Something’s going on Mr. Jones, but you dont know what it is, to quote an American icon; Bob Dylan. I guess time will tell. One thing that I can be almost certain of; that the many miles of beach breaks, reefs and points here on the Central Coast will usually have some kind of waves, and once in a while have good shooting conditions. These conditions came together a couple of times for me last week. Yours truly, and few friends managed to score some fun.
One session was at “Area 51”, which is becoming one of my favorite beachies around. Its four wheel drive only to get there, which really keeps the crowds down, as you have to be really dedicated to get in, and have a reliable vehicle, as there is no cell service here…..Great spot! The other session was shot at a undisclosed pier up the coast from here, there are really heavy locals who surf here, who dont take to outsiders very well, so I do not say more than that.
I hope you enjoy at looking at these images, and that they keep you as stoked as they do me.
Aloha Nui Loa,
Lieb

Hey Brent, I really enjoyed the layed back tone of modern surf exploration that you conveyed in your new slideshow…of course using the classic “endless summer” tune was perfect and never tiring for me! This is YOU my man, you and your talented frozen buddies of the semi- known north, exploring some of the least known areas left in california. I have always loved seeing what’s around the bend, through the muck and the strange, silloqueted hills shaped like sleeping women (ok, now your awake) and it’s always fun to see what you discover with that big black thing you call a lens!
