Combo Swell Action Spreads Holiday Cheer Along the South Coast

While the first half of the 2011/2012 surf season has been far from what you would call “epic”, plenty of opportunities to score some great waves have been had the past couple of weeks as everyone waits for the storm-maker machinery to fully kick in.  Lots of offshore 4’ to 6’ barrels have been on tap throughout the Santa Barbara Channel, and still bigger yet at spots to our North and South.  Ventura County based photographer Laura Holman has been busy chasing all of the best local surfers during this time.  She writes, “All I know is that I was in total heaven standing on the beach and being so grateful to be able to see those waves and the stoke on all my friends’ faces when they would get barreled.  It absolutely turned my frown upside down.  Nothing makes me more at peace than to witness the ocean in all its glory!  It’s my Heaven on Earth. I love everything about it…”  Below is a sample of what imagery Laura has been capturing during the Christmas holiday period…  Enjoy!
