2009 NBVC Point Mugu Surf Contest Presented by Quiksilver
August 22-23, 2009 NBVC will host the 2009 Point Mugu Surf Contest Presented by Quiksilver. This is an exciting opportunity for the surfing community to access one of the best waves Southern California has to offer, and for NBVC to showcase our award winning stewardship of the environmentally sensitive beach and wetlands area inside our gates.
This is a community engagement event for NBVC. Proceeds from this event will benefit the MWR Single Sailor/Liberty program - a recreation program for Active Duty personnel stationed at NBVC. Personnel in the Single Sailor/Liberty program range in age from 18-25. The MWR Single Sailor/Liberty program helps these young men and women make social connections in an alcohol-free environment and generate fond memories of their experience while enlisted in the armed forces.
Entry fees are $20 for Military and $100 for Civilian. There are seven divisions: Open, Military Men, Military Women/Open Women, Long board, JR’s/Quiksilver Young Guns, Body board, and a special Quiksilver Expression Session featuring professional riders.
This event is open to the public - free admission and parking.
GUESTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CARPOOL. PARKING IS LIMITED OUTSIDE THE GATE - PLEASE REGISTER FOR BASE ACCESS AND PARKING
Unfortunately, registration is now closed to contestants wanting to cash in on this rare opportunity to surf one of the most hallowed mysto-breaks on the coast.
