Sea of Joy

For me, this year has been a disappointment. I guess there’s still time left for something to somehow funnel through the Santa Barbara Channel barricade.  Rincon has been very lethargic and is about to give up the ghost for this season for a well earned rest. Last week a bit of choosy swell snuck through the barricade and focused just about all of it’s energy on California Street, leaving all the more capable, exciting breaks for naught.  I looked around and found a beach break that stole a little bit of California Street’s energy and there was a group of crazy kamikazes going for it, trying to squeeze any ride-able surface or tube that their super fast reflexes could manage out of what was really an impossible dream. It was kinda exciting,  being safe on the beach and watching the locals kill themselves, but even that becomes boring after awhile. So here are a few of the many boring photos I took that morning…don’t look too hard, you could go blind.
