Waterman’s Guide to SBIFF
Arlington Theater, Santa Barbara
Last night was the opening of the 25th Santa Barabara International Film Festival. It was a crisp, cool night filled with an electric buzz in the air. The red carpet was laid out, the lights were blaring, and the cameras were snapping photos of the first wave of stars.
Film festival director Roger Durling has put together one of best programs yet. Stars like James Cameron, Colin Firth, Julian Moore, Sandra Bullock and Quentin Tarantino will be in town to accept or present awards.
Films with an aquatic theme are always a big hit here with the locals, and this year there is a new category at the festival dedicated specifically to extreme sports. This category is called, “To the Maxxx”.
