6th Annual Event a Huge Success
The Santa Barbara chapter of the Autism Society of America today teamed up with Santa Barbara Seals surf school, a group of volunteers from the Santa Barbara Surf Club, and Billabong for the 6th annual Surf & Beach Day today at Ledbetter Beach.
A story in The Daily Sound today talks about the history of the event as well as the story behind the local organization.
While the surf was virtually flat, this did nothing to dampen the spirits or the energy of the event. Surf coaches took kids out on paddle boards and provided many of them with their first experiences with the ocean. Watching the expressions on the kids’ faces it was plainly clear that this was a special moment in their lives. In addition to paddleboarding other beach activities included boogie boarding, balance training on “Indo Boards”, face painting, and other fun activities.
