Once Again Foul Weather is Expected This Coming Weekend
Surf Contest Has Been Rescheduled for Sat. & Sun. March 6/7

Stormy Weather Leads to Postponement Once Again
“Jon, I really hate to say it, but we’re going to have to reschedule the contest for the weekend of March 6th & 7th. We’ve waited this long, and it’s really in the best interest of the community at large if we can hold off for a window of good weather.” That was the word from Chris Keet this morning when I checked in during a local downpour. Obviously with a season like we’ve been having, there are drawbacks and advantages. On the plus side, we’ve all been gobbling down a steady diet of killer surf. On the downside, we’ve also had a steady parade of rainstorms, making planning outdoor activities in advance especially challenging. I hope that everyone supports Chris Keet in making such difficult calls. I mean, just look at what happened at the Maverick’s Contest this year. They seemingly passed on several “contestable” days holding out for the “right” conditions, and they sometimes took some flack for it. Shoulda, woulda, coulda… They committed to a set of conditions, and in the end were rewarded with THE most epic for a Mav’s contest ever. So, let’s all give Surf Happens the benefit of the doubt. This being an El NiƱo year, there is a high probability that we will have swell right into May in the Santa Barbara area. At least, that’s what customarily happens when we have conditions as what we are experiencing now in the Eastern Pacific…
