| More about Aubrey Falk | In May 2008 I co-Founded Surfers Without Borders with my husband Loren. After years of traveling around the world, with the main mission being to find the best waves, I began to think about what other ways I could be giving back to these amazing places that were getting destroyed on so many levels. I saw how our land based activities as unconcious consumers were affecting our precious playground- which is really much more than a surfers “playground”. The ocean is the blood of our planet, by poising it, we affect our whole body, the whole earth, and everyone and everything on it. So what can we do about it? One step is to promote sustainable development. SWoBs mission is finding ways we as surfers can reduce our impact on the environment and be of service to those special places we get to travel to. We focus on creating positive relationships within the local community. How do you do that? Interact with them! We use art as a medium to connect with different cultures and also educate about environmental issues. Its all about being creative and taking action! The sollutions to our global pollutions are out there. You can learn more about what we do through our website www.surferswithoutboders.org For me, art is an amazing tool that can be used as a way to express many feelings as well as global issues. Most of my paintings are inspired by the things that I love- the ocean and its creatures, landscapes, trees, flowers, people…My hope is that my images may serve as a positive reminder to have gratitude for these special elements of our earth.
