I guess when I lived at Sunset pt in the early 70’s and my black cat “Eli Eli” ( that’s black in Hawaiian.) would walk out on the soft sand and watch me paddle out at the point. I often and usually I was, the first one out for at least an hour before guys like Kanaiaupuni, Jeff Hakman, Bernie Baker, Buttons Kaluhiokalani, Mark Lydell, Michael Ho and the rest would finally come out to join me…. |
